Welcome to the Middlebrow Network

The Middlebrow Network is an interdisciplinary group dedicated to research around the loaded and often disreputable term ‘middlebrow’.

The Network was founded in 2008 with AHRC funding, and ran a series of events. We operate now mainly through our email newsletter (c.440 members at February 2025) and our social media accounts. We send out news of events, cfps and new publications. Our website provides a resource for research in this field, through our Defining the Middlebrow, Resources and Bibliography pages.
